The Fading Sunlight

The waves ebb and flow
Much like the minds of men
Tossed and turned this way and that
Then changed to foam until the next arrives

Aristotle and Voltaire
And Marx and Freud
The last wave comes and replaces the first

He’s right
No! He’s right, no! He’s right
No! He’s right

Who can sail upon this ocean of madness?
This way!
No that way!
No this way!
No that!

I will not fade into the greying fog
When the beautiful sun shines
No more upon this sea

In the dimness of the grey
I will let their bones wash ashore
Skeletons of striving
Sailors of a failed voyage

Is not the ocean beautiful?
Shining light upon a fractured mirror
A warm, lethal embrace inviting me in

Instead I will walk across the water by will
Or is it magic that calls my name?
These floating shoes couldn’t possibly be the
       reason

And finding a mountain
Protruding from the sea
I climb and climb and climb
‘Til the fog fades in the red sunset

I can see the dolphins from here
Choppy, red, sea of fire
With love I will invite people
To join me on this Rock
