The Day that Death was Conquered

The tomb was shut and sealed
A vigil of a few soldiers stood watch
But a vigil of thousands of soldiers
     watched from the spirit realm
One of great power and authority
Shining armor emitting spectacular light
With wings spread wide
Descending, slowly
Bolts of lightning surrounding this
     warrior
Eyes white with wisdom and fire
Flowing blonde hair that seemed to blow
from a breeze that earth could not
     feel
A chest plate of bronze with matching
     gauntlets and boots
But not a bronze of earth or tarnish or
     rust
A bronze like a mirror that is so pure and
vivid that you can see into your soul
     in your reflection
A bronze of great weight
Under the magnificent armor,
A tunic of finest linen
White like glowing snow
Lightning all around
From his eyes to his tunic to his armor
He shone like a white star descending
     from Heaven
As he descended the earth shook
The ground quaked beneath the presence
     of such a mighty being
Waves of power could be felt pulsing out
     from the angel
The soldiers of earth gazed upon this
     spectacular being
And fainted as though they were dead
     men
The angel touched down on the earth
Raising his hand, he touched the massive
     boulder that sealed the tomb
With only a slight movement of his hand
     on the boulder,
The stone moved away so quickly it was
as if the stone jumped off of the earth
in which it stood in fear and reverence
     of the angel
Then, behold, Jesus Christ
The Lamb of God, once slain, rose again
An eruption in Heaven and in the spirit
realm on earth exploded with cheers,
     shouts, clapping, trumpets, and
praises such as had never happened
     before or since
The King came forth
The powers of darkness shrieked in terror
Not realizing until now how God had used
them as pawns in His plan to restore
     creation
Then Jesus, walking out in majesty, shone
     so brightly
His powerful spirit embodied now in the
     physical
The powers of darkness defeated, trumpets
and flutes played such a symphony in
     Heaven
How I long to hear that triumphant roar
     at such an event
The day my Savior conquered death
What a powerful Name it is, the Name of
     Jesus Christ

The Journey

Running, running, running
A little trail of darkness
Reaches out from the forest
That gloomy, thorn-filled maze
Failed to claim my life
The shadows stretch the hand of death
Failing, not reaching, the blackness
     cannot survive the light
Running, running, running
Ear to ear I grin
Tailwind blows steady
Sunshine, green grass, a cloudless,
     doubtless sky
Downhill
Exhilarating force propels me forward
Energy, power, hope, faith, love
Running, running, running
Downhill
The path ends with a cliff
Open ocean, cloudless, doubtless sky
Wind against my back
Picking up speed
Running, running, running
Empty space ahead
A chasm unmeasureable
Preparing for the floor to drop
Grass disappears into a stony cliff
Just before the end, waves of energy
     course through my legs
Tightening muscles, lowering my
     center of gravity,
I push off the ground with ferocity
Trail of dirt falling off my shoes
     as I fly upward
Spreading my arms, I glide
Then suddenly, wings burst from my
     back
Flying, flying, flying
Picking up speed
Racing above the waters far below
     me
Wind, sun, hope, power
A cloudless, doubtless sky
Then, a slight dropping
My right foot sinking in the air slightly
An anchor, a weight chained to
     my foot
Seemingly without origin
Dragging me down, down, down
Grasping the handle of the sword
    on my side
I free the blade from its scabbard
Teeth bared
Fire in my eyes
Sweat, wind, flexing muscles,
A great shout!
Like hope spoken to a broken soul,
I slice the chain!
Instant lifting
Flying, flying, flying
Upward and faster
A boost of speed ten times over
A cloudless, doubtless sky
Wings fold back into my body
Replaced with a jet pack
Metal wings extend beyond my reach
And a boost of jet fuel propels
     me onward
Faster, faster, faster
Upward I travel, high into the
     atmosphere
The water grows more distant
The air thins
Strangely, I can breathe easier
See farther,
Hear clearer
The stars illuminate the sky
A new fold of metal covers my
     jet pack
Like a transformer, the engines
     upgrade
And use different fuel
Blue fire trails behind
Metal encases my whole body
Exhaust of azure flame twice
as long as the old engines
Speed increases ten fold
Upward I climb
Flying, flying, flying
A cloudless, doubtless sky
Exiting earth's atmosphere
I barrel into space
Such brilliant stars
Flaming diamonds suspended by
     nothing
In silence and solace they dwell
The wisdom of an ancient age
Such wonder, such beauty
Journeying away from earth
I look to the beyond
Then, I feel myself speeding up
Upward I travel into the dark
Unknown, beyond reach
Then, the strangest thing
My speed suddenly increases
     by an unmeasureable amount
I disappear into a flash of light
Then lights all around,
Like a tunnel
Faster than I can imagine
Flying, flying, flying
A cloudless, doubtless space
Picking up speed
It seems not even light could catch
     me
Like a bullet down a barrel of
     a gun,
I rocket through this cylinder of
     light
Then I see it
Ending coming near
Racing towards the opening
I fly through it into a new solar
     system
Giant, vibrant planets are before
     me
Hidden treasures of life many miles
     from earth
What wonders are hidden on these?
What buried treasures from God's
     heart dwell within their oceans?
What marvelous creatures inhabit
     such planets?
I will enjoy spending my life to find
     them

The Glory of the Sun

Leaves blow softly
Of clouds, of blue skies, of sunshine
The river never stops flowing
Green grass grows
Thoughts are halted
I fly along the gentle breeze
Exist within nature
I am here but also there
Full but empty
How can one stop what has no beginning?
Thoughts of heaven and angels
Of light, of fire and waterfalls
That sweet, serene clarity that both anchors me
to this world and takes me into the Spirit
Where lights and orange sunrises paint joy into
      eyes of daisies
The touch of green grass on the fingers
Exist within not one thing but all
Yet still I am here
The trees tell their stories
Of seasons gone by
And I bask in their wisdom
Taken up into the clouds,
I remain
The hills speak to me
And the mountains sing their songs
Of victories, of defeats, of politics and
      philosophy
But all is nothing
The glory of the sun counsels me
Fame and riches mean nothing
But like a perfect rose blossoming,
Is love, connection, and peace
